Landour is a quiet corner above Mussoorie where old roads, slow walks, and silence come together. A place best explored on foot, without any rush.

Landour is older than Mussoorie.

It was established in the early 19th century as a British cantonment, mainly for soldiers and officers who wanted a quieter place away from busy towns. While Mussoorie grew into a popular hill station, Landour stayed calm, protected by army rules and limited construction. That is why it still feels untouched in many ways.

The narrow roads, old wooden houses, churches, and stone walls carry a quiet colonial past. Many buildings here are over a hundred years old. There are no loud markets, no big hotels, and very few shops. Life moves slowly, just the way it always has.

Landour is also known for its writers, thinkers, and artists. The silence here invites reflection. People come not to see many things, but to feel something  peace, stillness, and time moving gently.

Fog often rolls in without warning. Views appear and disappear. Evenings are quiet, and nights are cold and still. From certain points, you can see Mussoorie glowing below, while Landour remains dark and silent above.

Landour is not a place you rush through.
It is a place you walk slowly, think quietly, and leave with less noise inside you.

Landour is just above Mussoorie, but it feels like a different world.
